BIOGRAPHY

image00004.jpg

19-76 is a collective of Mongolian musicians and producers pushing the boundaries of tradition and innovation. Rooted in centuries-old sounds of the morin khuur, throat singing, and long-song melodies, the group reimagines these cultural treasures through the lens of electronic music. Their signature styles—Mongolian House, Gobi House, Steppe Techno, and Ambient—create a hypnotic fusion that connects Mongolia’s vast landscapes with global dance floors. With backgrounds spanning orchestral performance, world music, composition, and sound engineering, the members of 1976 bring both technical mastery and deep cultural knowledge to every project.

Guided by percussionist and composer Hulgo (a.k.a. Hulgo Drummer), the group has earned recognition for performances that are as immersive as they are groundbreaking. From their debut tribute to legendary long-song singer Mrs. Norovbanzad, to their collaborations with the Spirit of Gobi Festival in the heart of the desert, 1976’s work is a celebration of heritage and a bold step into the future. Their mission is clear: to preserve Mongolia’s voice while reinventing how the world experiences it—through music that transcends borders, genres, and generations.
